As you probably know, we had an extraordinary reception in Italy last year for the Un Paese a Sei Corde festival. Well, no Italian adventure for us this year but Italy came to us instead.
Antonio Guido Piretti (aka Toz) is a guitarist from Bologna, Italy and a new immigrant to Toronto. He expressed an interest in getting his hands on Voyageur and we took the opportunity of a restaurant gig earlier tonight at Olivia's-at-Fifty-Three on Clinton St. in Toronto's Little Italy. Toz was set up in the backyard patio and he enthusiastically swapped his Yamaha for Voyageur when I arrived. While Sarah and I enjoyed a glass of Pinot Grigio, Toz ran through a selection of covers and originals including a song called "Thank You", dedicated to the city of Toronto for embracing him as one of its own.
This reinforces my belief that we have to make Voyageur part of a Canadian Citizenship Ceremony.
Thanks to Toz and the staff at Olivia's and to Alan Small for the introduction.
