I know this jet-lag will catch up with me sometime in the next 24 hours but so far it's been kind of exhilarating. We arrived home from our 10-day west coast trip last night and I spent most of today preparing to host the second of Katrina Anderson's Swing Sets series at Gallery Fontana Swing.
Tonight it was a new configuration of Lisa Patterson's ROAM project. I've known Lisa for many years so it was great to have the short interview with her at the top of the show, which is a feature of the Swing Sets.
The new line up is a trio with the members of Rakkatak - that's tabla player Anita Katakkar, guitarist/bassist Oriana Barbato and Lisa (L-R) with Voyageur in the picture. Oriana played the guitar for a couple of songs at the end of the set and it was great to hear it adapt to her more flamenco/nylon-string style of playing.
All in all a lovely, intimate and supremely musical evening. But a late one - and now it's off to bed to be up early for a presentation to a group of English-as-a-second-language professionals tomorrow morning at the Sheraton Centre!
Thanks as always to Katrina Anderson. Thanks also to Gary and the other volunteers.
